Elizabeth (Betty) E. Douville, 96, of Westhampton Woods died March 26, 2018 with her family at her side. Betty is survived by daughter Lorraine and her husband James Galica of Westhampton, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Her late husband Raymond T. Douville passed on in 1986 in Douglas, MA.  She was predeceased by two daughters Jeanne E. Peculis of Brimfield, MA and Karen M. Douville of Bay City, MI both in 2011, as well as two brothers Charles Fritz, Milton Fritz, and a sister Dorothy Caley.

Born in Reading, PA in 1921, she was the daughter of Julius and Estelle (Swartley) Fritz.  She was educated in Norristown, PA schools, and went on to work as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. in Norristown.  In 1942 she enlisted in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp, and served as T/5 Corporal in the Office of Administration at Bunker Hill, Charlestown, where she met then later married Raymond Douville.  They raised their family in Douglas, MA, while as a homemaker she also served as a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Denis Church.  She also did volunteer office work at the church rectory and at the Whitinsville Medical Hospital.  She worked as assistant administrator at the Northbridge Senior Center, and is a retired library aide from Sutton High School. 

Betty moved to Westhampton in 2005.  She enjoyed sewing and crafts, and always loved flowers, reading books, and family visits.


Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 6, from 4pm to 7pm in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton.  Burial will be early summer in St. Denis Cemetery, Douglas, MA.
