William Scott Bray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully received his wish to "go home" on February 2, 2026. A long-time resident of both Southampton, MA, and Norwalk, CT, Bill is now reunited with his beloved wife, the late Beverly (Chapman) Bray. Born in Northampton, MA, on December 29, 1939, Bill was the son of the late William H. and Catherine (Scott) Bray. A lifelong learner, Bill dedicated himself to his studies, earning a BSEd from Westfield State (College) University, an MA from the University of Connecticut, and a Professional Diploma in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Bill’s passion for education touched countless lives. He taught in the Westfield, MA, and Norwalk, CT, public school systems before retiring. He was particularly known for his tenure as the Vice Principal at Nathan Hale Middle School, a calling to which he was deeply dedicated. Beyond the classroom, Bill served his community in many capacities. He was a dedicated Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts Troop 19 in Norwalk, an active member of the Southampton Congregational Church, and a docent at the Springfield Museum. In all these roles, he made a lasting impact and forged deep, lifelong friendships. Bill found great joy in the arts and history. He was an avid choir member and a talented pianist who also enjoyed knitting, genealogy, Civil War history, reading, and spending summer vacations at the family cottage on Prince Edward Island, Canada. He deeply cherished the time spent with his many friends and family. Bill was predeceased by his cherished wife, Beverly Chapman Bray. He leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory: * Scott H. Bray and his wife, Katherine, and their children, Hutchison and Emersyn, of Dalton, MA. * Robert C. Bray and his wife, Hope, and their children, Joy, Bliss, and Valor, of Monroe, CT. * His brother-in-law, Dr. Robert J. Chapman, of San Diego, CA.
