Wilfred (Willie) Laprade Jr. of Southampton passed away on Sept 12, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by family, love, light, oldies and country music.
Willie was born on June 4 1955 in Northampton the son of Wilfred and Evelyn (Lamothe) Laprade. Willie was raised in Easthampton and attended local schools. In 1995 Willie married his soulmate Lynn (Ewing) and her three daughters. Willie was an extremely hard working man where he worked in a multitude of construction jobs throughout his career.
Willie was a “Jack” of all trades. He could create something extraordinary from next to nothing and could fix anything with a roll of duct tape!
Willie was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the beach, fishing, boating, hiking, gardening and wildlife. He loved cooking for his family, especially his famous “Willie Wings” and perfecting his mom’s apple pie recipe. Willie loved life and his people immensely. He was the first person you would to go to whenever you needed something done. He put everyone’s needs before his own despite his challenges and his silent pain and did so with grace and the most beautiful perfect smile. Of all of Willie’s good deeds on earth he took most pride in his role as “Papa” to not only his grandchildren but to his great nieces and nephews and those who had the privilege to know him. Willie was the center of his family‘s universe and leaves behind a legacy that will be spoken of for years to come.
Until we meet again Papa, “Peace, Love and Woodstock”
