Theresa B. Cummings, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Palmer Healthcare Center, Palmer.
Theresa was born April 15, 1931, in Northampton, the daughter of Arthur J. Dugas and Beatrice A. (Mumblow) Dugas. She attended Easthampton schools and was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church now Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton.
Theresa married her childhood sweetheart Oliver "Ozzie" L. Cummings on Aug. 26, 1950. Together, they raised a family, lived, worked, and served the community of Easthampton their entire lives.
Some of Theresa's favorite activities included summer vacations in Maine with her husband and daughters, and later with her grandchildren. She enjoyed family picnics, holiday's and shopping with her dear cousin Beatrice Frennier. Spending time with family and friends was very special to Theresa.
Theresa will always be remembered and loved for her compassion and selfless desire to help others in need.
Theresa is survived by daughter Carol A. Bachand and James Patenaude of Huntington; daughter Brenda L. Pelc of Easthampton;two grandchildren, Jason M. Bachand and Matthew R Bachand; one brother, Arthur J. Dugas Jr. and his wife Lorraine; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband Oliver L. Cummings in 2015 and by her son-in-law Barry R. Peic in 2007.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday, June 2, from 3 to 7 p.m.
