Steven Latour Obituary

HOLYOKE-Steven R. Latour, 68, of Hampden Street and former longtime Charlemont resident passed away at his home on Friday, May 6, 2022 in Holyoke from a long illness. Steven was born in Springfield, a son of a military family, growing up on several military bases as he traveled throughout the United States with his family. He joined the US Navy, serving from 1973 to 1978 with Naval Support for Antarctica. After being honorably discharged, Steven worked as a deputy tax collector in his younger years before beginning a career in law enforcement. He eventually rose to Chief of Police for the Town of Charlemont. After retirement he worked in logistics for JB Hunt Trucking and drove semi for many years for Cardinal and North American trucking. His greatest joy in life was fishing, a sport he loved, especially when his family and children joined him. Steven leaves four children; daughter, Stacy Weaver and her husband Alex Quan of Rock Hill, S.C. from his first marriage. His children from his second marriage; Renee Latour of Tupper Lake, NY., Danielle Latour and her partner Charles Ashworth of Liverpool, NY and Andrea Latour and her husband Chris Pride of Auburn, NY and their mother Nancy M. (Bellows) Latour. His grandchildren; Ainsley, Brody, Jessie and Autumn. His sister, Denise Harning of Cape Coral, FLA. and a brother Daniel Latour, many nieces and nephews including his a close nephew, Michael Labrecque of Westhampton.. THE FAMILY INVITE YOU TO JOIN THEM DIRECTLY AT THE MASSACHUSETTS VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 1390 MAIN ST., AGAWAM ON TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2022 PROMPTLY AT 10:00 A.M FOR RITES OF COMMITTAL AND U.S. NAVY HONORS FOR STEVEN. (Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. at the VA Cemetery, services start promptly at 10:00 a.m.) There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any Fish & Wildlife group for the promotion of youth fishing, Steven’s family would greatly appreciate it.
