Stephen J Golas

Stephen J. Golas, 86 of Southampton died Feb 7th in Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehabilitation. Stephen was born on May 8th 1926 in Easthampton, the son of Frank and Francesca Golas. Stephen attended Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Easthampton High School. Stephen graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the Massachusetts Highway Department, retiring in the 1990s. Stephen was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Italy. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Westfield. He also was a member of the American Legion and was active as a flag bearer in the Southampton Memorial Day Parades. Stephen is survived by his wife of 60 years Margaret (Leeming) Golas. They were married on June 7th 1952. One son Chris Golas of Southbridge MA, a sister Mary Sepko of Amherst.

The funeral will be Tuesday Feb 12 at 930am in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton followed by A Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Westfield. Burial will follow in St Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton.
