Robert Weidhaas Obituary

Robert W Weidhaas, 95, of Easthampton, MA, passed away peacefully in his home on July 15, 2024. Robert was born on June 21, 1929 in Easthampton MA, the son of Frederick and Marie Elizabeth (Niederberger) Weidhaas and step-son of Ruth Kendrick Weidhaas. He was raised in Easthampton and lived there all of his life, He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served honorably until his discharge from service. 


Bob worked for the former Easthampton Rubber Thread, serving for many years as  plant Supervisor. He was married to the late Agnes (Nichols) Weidhaas. He was a devoted husband to Aggie and father to his beloved son “Little Bobby”.  Bob was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a talented woodworker and always eager to show off his latest projects. As a licensed radio operator, Bob made many friends over the air waves and talked to them even as his health failed. 

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 224 and was a true patriot.  He was a member of the St. Philip’s Church in Easthampton.


Bob was a kind and generous man, a good neighbor, a loyal friend and he loved his family dearly. Memories of Bob will always include visions of him touring around on one of his motorcycles or scooters which he drove until he was in his 90’s. 


Bob was predeceased by his; his wife Agnes, son Robert; mother and father, step-mother; brothers George, Frederick, Donald (who died at birth); sisters Ruth Cykowski, Helen Knight, Betty Yarra, Barbara Weidhaas, Eleanor Carey; and nephews Mark and Allen Weidhaas.


Bob’s memory will forever be cherished by his surviving nieces and nephews, Donald Cykowski, Nancy, Judy, Fred, Jimmy, Mary Lou, Gary Weidhaas, Jimmy Knight, and Susan, Rick and Victor Yarra. He also has many great-nieces and nephews. 


He also leaves behind Darlene Orvieto, who he considered his daughter, and her two children Julian and Jocelyn Orvieto-Fasoli. 

Robert also leaves behind his beloved dogs Teddy, Nico and cat Mysti.

 

A graveside service will be held in Brookside Cemetery on August 2, 2024 at 11am.
