Robert (Bob) LaFleur, also fondly known as “Grampie” 72, of Florence, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Northampton on April 27,1950, to Claudius and Arline (Bombard) LaFleur. Bob graduated from Northampton High School in 1968. After high school, he worked for many years in the banking industry, and several of those years at NIS before becoming self-employed for the next 39 years at Real Estate Licensees.
Bob leaves his loving wife and best friend of 26 years, Susan (Gaynor) LaFleur. He is also survived by two daughters, Amy Wolcott and her husband Jon of Easthampton, Sherri Desroches and her husband Neil of Belchertown, his two most prized possessions, his cherished grandchildren, Dawson Wolcott and Makalyn Wolcott of Easthampton, sister Judy Powers and brother John (Ted) LaFleur. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Arline (Lucky) Preble, brother Richard LaFleur, stepbrother Junior.
Bob will be remembered most for the strong devotion to his family. He was the most loving and caring Grampie. You would find him at each and every one of Dawson & Makalyn’s sporting events cheering them on. He was quick to joke, quick to laugh and would make friends with everyone he met. He always had a smile, and his heart was truly made of gold. He enjoyed fishing at Willards Pond, canoeing, playing poker with the guys on Friday nights, Monday night wrestling with the ever-growing crew, watching Jon & Dawson’s Softball games at Maines Field, cruising in his Jeep, and creating his model train set.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 4 to 6pm at Mitchell's Funeral Home in Easthampton followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bob’s Life which will include a Hotdog Buffet, will be held in the Summer of 2023 at the convenience of the family.
