Richard G. Durant Sr

Richard G. Durant Sr, 96, of Goshen passed away in Northampton on August 26. Born in Easthampton on August 16, 1926. He was the son of Lawrence and Marie (Barnatchez) Durant. Richard attended local schools.  He enlisted in the Navy during WWII serving aboard the USS JESSE RUTHERFORD as a Seaman 1st class.  He married the late Phyllis Brin in 1949 and they made their home in Easthampton and then later in Goshen since 1952. Phyliss passed away in 2000

Richard worked for Stanley Home Products, retiring in many years ago from Hamilton Standard. Richard was a jack of all trades. Richard had many interests over the years including fishing, hunting and anything that put him outdoors.  Richard was also interested in music and singing.  Richard was a long-time member of the Florence VFW.   Richard was a member of the Florence Congregational Church

   Richard is survived by, a daughter Marie Durant and her husband David Nanartonis of Florence a son James Durant and his fiancé Luci Galo of Goshen and a daughter-in law Valerie Durant. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. Richard was predeceased by a son Richard Durant Jr. A sister Valerie Pegg.

A Funeral service will be on Saturday, Sept.  17th at 11”45a.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home.
