Richard P. Carson, 72, of Easthampton died Monday April 4th at Holyoke Medical Center, Holyoke. He was born August 28, 1943 in Great Barrington, the son Emmet and Sophie (Golas) Carson. He attended Great Barrington Schools and graduated from Searles High School in l961. He moved to Easthampton in 1970. Richard was a US Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and the Desert Shield/Storm conflicts; also a member of American Legion Post 224 in Easthampton. He was a member of Easthampton Congregational Church and a former Deacon of the church. His interests were his children and grandchildren, travel-camping with his wife and beloved dogs in their Recreational Vehicles, and appreciating US military history.
Richard is survived by his wife Lorraine (Neipp) Carson , four sons, Paul Carson and wife Lynn of Chicopee, Ronald Carson, Todd Carson and husband Craig McDonald and Kevin Carson and wife Sarah, all of Easthampton, one daughter Kim Douglas and husband Paul of California, former daughter-in-law Anne Carson, 13 grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Matthew, Melissa, Josh, Samantha, Cody, Ryan, Rachael, Olivia, Lanah, Kierra, and Luke, and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Jennifer.
Funeral services will be Thursday April 7th at 7pm. in the Mitchell Funeral Home , 15 Park Street, Easthampton, preceded by visiting hours from 4pm to 7pm.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
