Mary Louise "MaryLou" Spaulding
Huntington , MA - Mary Louise "Marylou" (Hennessey) Spaulding , of Huntington, MA, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, on May 8, 2025, from a compromised immune system due to cancer, at the age of 65. Marylou was born and raised in Arlington, MA, and spent her childhood summers at Northwood Lake in New Hampshire. Predeceased by her parents, John and Lucy (Majeski) Hennessey, brother John "Jack" Hennessey, and sister Carolyn Hennessey, Marylou is survived by her sister Kathleen "Kathy" Mattola, and brother Gerald "Gerry" Hennessey and his wife Joyce.
Marylou leaves behind her daughter and best friend Lucy (Spaulding) Cawthron, and her children: Melina, John, Nolan, and step-daughter Lylah. Son Ricky Spaulding, his wife Alicia, and their children, Sarah, Reed and Cole. Step-son Kris Spaulding and his wife Bonnie. Step-daughter Kelly Spaulding and her children, Shelby and Cierra Frye. Her love and long time partner Philip Carleton, his son, Brandon Carleton and children, Jaxson, Kinsley, and Lilly. His daughter, Ryley, and husband Nick Adair. Also leaving behind brother-in-laws and sister in-laws, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was so loved, and touched many lives.
Marylou was known for her hugs, dimples, smile, and contagious laugh, which was often heard from across the lake. Her hugs were healing, and she was never the first to let go.
Her home was a second home to her children's friends, and she was a mom to all the kids in the neighborhood. Marylou enjoyed her home on Norwich Lake, boat rides, swimming, floating, the ocean, late night dancing with Phil in the kitchen, music, sunshine, and a nice cold beer or a martini. She was the best Nana to her grandchildren. Sarah, held a very special bond and spot in her heart. Marylou, was the favorite aunt to her many adored nieces and nephews, always having a good time together. She may have been 65, but she always said in her heart she was 21. Marylou was someone you could tell anything to without judgment. Marylou was the friend everyone could count on. She had many longtime friends that she considered family. She will be missed immensely by her Northwood and Norwich Lake families, as well as her River/Oxbow family, who she spent many days, nights, and weekends with, alongside her predeceased ex-husband of 25 years, Chip Spaulding.
Marylou went to college at UMass Amherst. She worked at Amherst College, and then after raising her children, spent 20+ years at Berkshire Children and Families, which is now 18 Degrees. To say Marylou made an impact was an understatement. She always stepped up to whatever task, problem, or opportunity that presented itself. She was the definition of strength. She loved with her whole heart, and made sure you knew it. Daughter, sister, mother, lover, friend, Nana, auntie; you name it, she filled each role with love, effort and compassion.
