Madeline Simpson Obituary

Madeline  E. Simpson 92, of Southampton died Saturday April 28. at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam. She was born in Pittsfield February 26, 1926 the daughter of James  and Madeline Fitzgerald Cullen. She attended schools in Pittsfield and  attended Holyoke Community College. She moved to Holyoke in 1946  and later made her home in Southampton in 1948. Madeline  was employed in banking and insurance with Vanguard Saving of Holyoke for 15 years and later with Farm Family Insurance of Northampton. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Holyoke and member of AARP. Madeline was a member of the Northampton Council on Aging Elder Services for 11 years after her retirement. She was the widow of George E. Simpson who died in 1968.

Madeline is survived by one son Geoffrey Simpson of Southampton, two daughters Madeline Pompei of West Springfield and Diane Rondeau of Southampton, one brother Gerald Cullen of New Hampshire, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Jean Simpson, also a long time friend Norma Bagnall. Madeline was predeceased  by one daughter Claudia Goodwin, four sisters Katherine McCutcheon ,Therese Bannon, Rita Borowski, Mary Carey and two brothers Jim Cullen and John Cullen.

Graveside services will be held in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 9.30 am. There will be no visiting hours at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton.

In lieu of flowers gifts in Madeline’s memory may be given to Highland Valley Elder Services, 320 Riverside Drive, Florence, MA01062.
