Lena (Rogowski) Stanek, 88, of Easthampton, died Sunday May 1, in Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Born in Easthampton, November 16, 1927 , daughter of Frank and Mary (Soja) Rogowski, she lived here all her life. She attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from Easthampton High School in 1945, and attended Northampton Commercial College.
She married Kasmier (Jim) Stanek October 19, 1963, and he died December 21, 1997.
Lena was employed at the Advertising Corp. of America, secretary at American Thread Corp., secretary at Nickel Cadmium Battery and secretary at Stanley Home Products in Easthampton for 35 years, retiring in 1991. She was president, secretary and treasurer of Stanhome 25-Year Club for 21 years. She enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, bowling, knitting and snowmobiling.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Stanley Rogowski and three sisters, Henrietta Gazda, Amelia Rogowski and Frances Potasky and her nephews ,Norman Potasky, Joseph Rogowski and Ronald Rogowski.
She leaves two nieces, Maryann Ziomek of Easthampton and Carol Milewski of Las Vegas, Nev., several grandnieces and grandnephews, great grandnieces and nephews and a great great grandnephew.
A graveside service will be held Friday May 6th at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton. There will be no calling hours at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Easthampton.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Lena’s memory may be given to Baystate VNA and Hospice, 50 Maple Street, Springfield, MA01103
