Kevin Donald Nelson

Kevin Donald Nelson, 58, from Westfield, peacefully found his way to Heaven on March 24th surrounded by his loved ones. Being blind and deaf his entire life, he is free and seeing the world for the first time. He can now look down and see us all with a smile. His spontaneous and infectious laughter will be in our memories and fill our hearts always. His soul will forever be watching over our family and those who cared so deeply for him over all these years.

We are truly blessed that Kevin was loved and cared for by the Pichardo family, Tara, Jose, Gabby, Marie Anne, and his four-legged friend Maggie. Their family filled Kevin’s heart with love, and we are so very grateful.

Kevin will be deeply missed by the Pichardo family, his loving parents Larry and Donna Nelson, his sister Sherri LaPlante and husband Donald, brother Wayne Nelson and wife Kathleen. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Codie, Nathan and Peyton LaPlante, Ryan, Griffin and Quinn Nelson, and Kayla Belmont. He also leaves 3 grand nephews, Nicholas LaPlante, Colson Archambault, Owen Belmont and grandniece Angel Ugat. As well as his many aunts, uncles, and cousins, he leaves his devoted caretakers Tammy, Clint Dressler and Bill Shover. Who lovingly cared for Kevin for many years.

We are comforted in knowing he was met with open arms by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Irene Stuart, and his paternal grandmother Catherine Nelson Spears.

Kevin, may you see all the wonderful colors and hear the beautiful music you couldn’t while here on earth. Heaven has gained an angel who endured so many challenges. You have taught all who have been a part of your life to appreciate the colors of a rainbow and the sound of a bird chirping. Your hugs brought so much happiness and we will always feel you surrounding us with love. You will be forever missed but know you are peacefully enjoying all that you couldn’t here with us. We love you Kev!
