It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Kenneth R. LaBonte a.k.a. Buckwheat a.k.a. Ken-Bob (50) of Huntington MA died unexpectedly Friday June 25th, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center. Leaving in his wake a tidal wave of shock and sadness.
Ken was born in Holyoke MA to the late Carrol (Rising) Fee and Robert LaBonte. He attended school at Gateway regional middle and high school in Huntington mass. After school he went on to a long career in tree service. Where he was known as fearless or nuts. He started with Walter Witshirtk of Huntington MA then went to work for Northern tree service, Lewis tree and Aspluldh tree service. Ken then went onto work for the CRRC factory in Springfield MA. He had at one time, or another made his home in Huntington, Pittsfield and North Adam's.
Ken worked hard and played hard. He had a carefree spirit, he was spontaneous, jolly, and kind. To know Ken was to know you were probably in for a wild and crazy time. He loved music, the outdoors, swimming and one of his favorite’s windows down, music up, dirt road driving. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
Ken was preceded by his mother Carol (Rising) Fee of Westfield and his sister Sherry (Swearingen) Kievitt of Wornoco.
He is survived by his two sons Logan and Jordan LaBonte of North Adam's and stepdaughter Keighlee Kingsbury of Atlanta GA and his daughter Mariah LaBonte of Michigan. He leaves his stepfather Richard Fee of Wornoco, Sisters Mary (Swearingen) Sweet, of Chester, Katherine (Fee) VanNostrand and Sarah Fee both of East Hampton. Brothers, David Swearingen of Colchester CT, John LaBonte of Westfield MA and Richard Fee of East Granby CT. Aunts Judith McNally and Betty Cardaropoli and many nieces and nephews. Also, his ex-wife Sherry LaBonte of North Adam's and longtime friends Garrett Kellam and Roy Dowling and so many more.
In place of traditional services, the family would like to extend an invitation to come celebrate Ken's life on Saturday July 3rd at 2 p.m. at Strathmore Park in Russell MA.
In lieu of flowers please bring yourself, some good stories and maybe a dish and come celebrate Ken's life with his family.
