Kenneth Blow Obituary

Kenneth A. Blow passed away July 9, 2017 at home surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Ken was born in Springfield, October 11, 1935, the son of Andrew and Ruth (Strong ) Blow. He graduated from Northampton High School in 1954. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958. Ken worked in road construction for over 40 years. He was a proud volunteer of the Westhampton Fire Department for more than 35 years, including 12 years spent as deputy chief.

Ken met his future wife, Wendy, while bowling in the Bruce Bitler Bowling League in 1964. Married in 1966, Ken and Wendy made their home in Westhampton for over 51 years.

Ken enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hike, garden, and spend time at Pine Island Lake. He had fun travelling with the Burgy Travel Club, and was an avid Yankees fan. He enjoyed being around animals, and was a granddad to two lucky dogs and a horse. He was a good friend to many, and thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Outlook Farm Gang.

Ken is survived by his wife Wendy (Plumb) Blow of 51 years, two daughters Lori (David) Ingraham of Easthampton and Terri (Aaron) Schmidt of Grafton, one sister Marjory Madden of Somers, CT, and several nieces and nephews. He cherished his time with his grandchildren: Jacob and Jessica Ingraham and Samuel and Maxwell Schmidt.

A Celebration of Life service will be held July 22, 2017 at 3pm at the Westhampton Congregational United Church of Christ, with burial at the convenience of the family. Mitchell’s Funeral Home has been honorably entrusted with providing Ken’s care. There will be no calling hours.
