Jeffrey Banas Obituary

Jeffrey Allan Banas Easthampton, MA Jeffrey A Banas, 70, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024. Jeff was born in Easthampton, to Chester S. Banas and Hattie May (Bishop) Banas where he lived his entire life. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene (Pariseau) Banas; his son, Michael and his wife Meredith (Springfield, MA), his daughter Amy Stanton and her husband Ray (Sandwich, MA); and his 4 grandchildren Riley & Ava Banas, and Briana & Sean Stanton; brother John Banas (Queen Creek, AZ), sister Debra Sjodahl and her husband Tom (Deerfield, MA). He is predeceased by his parents Chester and Hattie Banas, brother Chester (Snook) Banas, and sister Pat Senecal. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for many years working his way up in the company from machine operator to Quality Control Manager. Jeff retired in a similar role (QAQC) from WestRock Packaging (Formerly Eastern Container Corp.) in Springfield MA. Early in his life, he enjoyed boating and hunting, his annual canoe trips down the CT River with his buddies, camping trips, and picnics. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending much of his time catching up on many projects around the house and working in the yard. He loved his favorite fishing spots and golfing, and when it was time to relax you would find him out on the deck or in the comfort of his recliner watching sports and his favorite programs. Jeff loved the area and often drove around to many local destinations with Darlene. He was always by her side, at least never far. He knew his way around every back street, cut through and shortcut there is – and rarely went the same way twice if he could help it. Jeff was a lifelong member of The Pulaski Club in Easthampton and served on the board of Directors for many years. Jeff was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an incredible dziadiu. His greatest accomplishment and legacy is his family. He is respected and admired by so many. We all will miss his sense of humor, strength, love, and direction. A fun-loving, family-oriented person who loved the simple things in life. He will be greatly missed by his closest friends who were just as much his family; Roger Thouin, Robert and Sue Klosek, Phil and Deb Lussier, Richard and Karen Kostek, Tom and Jayne Garvey, and David and Connie Podolski.

Calling hours will be May 11th noon to 2pm at the Mitchell Funeral Home followed by a Luncheon at the American Legion Post 224 Easthampton from 2 to 5 pm
