Henry "Rusty" Jones III

It is with great sadness that the family of Henry “Rusty” Jones III, 74, announces his passing on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Rusty was born in Northampton, MA on June 7, 1947 to the late Henry Jones Jr. and Natalie Nan (Pursche) Jones. He grew up and spent his entire life in Easthampton, attending Easthampton Schools. Rusty graduated from Easthampton High School in 1965, where he was a member of the varsity soccer team. Following graduation, Rusty attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. He then continued his education at American International College in Springfield, MA, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1970. He went on to receive his MBA from the University of Massachusetts in 1972. Upon graduating, Rusty found his way back to the Easthampton school system, where he taught high school algebra for 30 years. Beyond the school day, you could always find Rusty cheering on the Eagles soccer, basketball, and baseball teams. Rusty also loved playing softball and played for several area teams who won many championships. Rusty loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He looked forward to celebrating birthdays and holidays with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he always enjoyed the summer months when he could watch his grandchildren enjoying hours of fun in his pool. During the day, Rusty could always be found meeting his friends at a local coffee shop and driving through town, waving to everyone he knew. People in town could tell the time from when they saw Rusty, as he was well-known for making his daily rounds and his punctuality. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins. He also enjoyed horse racing, especially Saratoga and the Triple Crown, and an occasional trip to Mohegan Sun to play Let It Ride. Rusty found the greatest pleasure watching his four grandsons play basketball, baseball, and hockey. 

Rusty leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Carole (Dzialo) Jones, his daughter Kristen (Jones) Dube and her husband Michael, of Suffield, CT, and a son Ryan and his wife Jennifer of Easthampton, MA. He was extremely proud of his four cherished grandsons, Zach, Alex, Brayden, and Garrin. Rusty also leaves his brother, Arthur (Pep) Jones and his wife Joan of Easthampton, numerous nieces, a nephew, and many, many friends.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 18th from 4PM-7PM, with a service on Friday, November 19th at 10AM. Both will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton, MA. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
