Harland E. Lemery, Sr. 98, of Westhampton died Friday Sept. 20 in Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehab Center, Northampton. He was born in Braintree, VT Dec. 5, 1914 the son of Benjamin and Ada Bell Lemery. He attended schools in Braintree coming to Westhampton at the age of 20 and was employed by the Parsons Farm. He retired 30 years ago from Westhampton Highway Department. He was previously employed as a Gunsmith with Savage Arms and was employed by the Holyoke Street Railway. He was well known and liked in Westhampton. Harley, as he was best known by, was predeceased by his wife Marion Blakesley in 2000.
Harley is survived by his son Harland E. Lemery, Jr. and his wife Gerry of Berlin, CT. , two sisters Octavia Prosciak of Easthampton and Maxine Davis of Williamstown, VT., three grandchildren Christine Sima, Lisa Chiariello and James Lemery, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to his sister Octavia Prosciak, Margaret Hamelin and Heather Robitaille for their extra thoughtfulness.
Visiting hour will be Wednesday Sept. 25, from 1-2 pm with a service at 2pm, in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton. Burial to be scheduled at the convenience of the immediate family.
