Gladys R. Phillips, 95, of Southampton died Saturday March 3, 2018 at Mont Marie Health Center and Rehab in Holyoke. Gladys was born in Norlina, North Carolina on June 24, 1922 the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Alice Edwards Rooker. She was a longtime resident of Southampton before making her home at Armbrook Village in Westfield. Gladys was a graduate of Duke University and a teacher in Southampton as well as at Hampshire Regional in Westhampton. She was a member and president of Southampton Council of Aging. Gladys was the widow of Raymond Phillips. She is survived by two sons, Bruce of Los Angeles and Edward of Toronto; by Edward’s partner John DeGouveia; and by two grandsons Stewart Phillips and Andrew Phillips, both of Toronto.
Friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday March 11, from 4pm to 7pm at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gladys’ memory to the Friends of the Southampton Council of Aging, Town Hall, College Highway, Southampton,MA01073.
