Fred Thouin Obituary

 

Fred Thouin of Easthampton passed away peacefully on Feb 14, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Fred was born Jan 7, 1941, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Pope) Thouin. Fred grew up in Easthampton and attended local schools, graduating from Easthampton High School Class of 1959. Fred married Diane La Valley in 1965. They lived in the Easthampton Southampton Westhampton area all of their lives.

Fred was an aircraft technician at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, and proudly served his country in the Air National Guard for thirty years. He was called to the Berlin Crisis in 1961, serving in Phalsbourg, France. Throughout the years, he also served across the states and overseas including Germany, Italy, Portugal and Turkey. Fred was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Easthampton Rod and Gun Club for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing boating and camping.

Fred was a hardworking, fun loving man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He went the extra mile to keep loved ones safe and happy. He will be forever loved, greatly missed and never forgotten.

Fred is survived by his wife, Diane. He leaves his son Jammie and his wife Cheryl, grandson Luke, granddaughter Charlene Quinlan and her husband Michael and great-grandchildren Mazie and Marshall. He also leaves his daughter, Linda Thouin Quinn, her husband Ed Quinn, grandson Nicholas and his fiancée Katherine and granddaughter Ashley and her boyfriend Eric. His family were the pride and joy of his life and he passes his legacy of generosity, passion, love and sense of humor and antics which will live on through them.

 He is also survived by many loving siblings; sisters; Marjorie Thouin and Cynthia Chrystal and husband Wayne, brothers; Albert and his wife Leslie, James and his wife Delphine and Roger and his wife Paula and many loved nieces and nephews and in-laws. Fred was blessed to share his life with his siblings whom he cherished.

A celebration of life will take place at a healthier and happier time. Donations may be made in Fred’s honor to Cooley Dickinson Hospice, PO Box 329, Northampton, MA 01061.
