Eugene ‘Gene’ Tanguay Jr., 82, of Port Orange, FL, formerly of West Farms, a section of Florence, passed away from a brief illness on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024, at Halifax Hospital in Port Orange. He was born on December 25th, 1941, in Northampton, to his parents Eugene Tanguay Sr. and Mildred Challet. He attended Northampton public schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959. In the time following, he married his wife Patricia and had three children. They lived in West Farms for 42 years, where Eugene worked for the former Norwood Oil Company for 23 years. Later he went on to own his own trucking company until his retirement in 2007. Upon retiring, Eugene and his wife moved to Hawley, where he was always busy either in the garage or outside; however, he always made time to sit on the porch and tell stories and jokes with his friends. After Patricia’s passing in 2013, he moved to Port Orange, FL, something he and his wife always dreamed of doing. Throughout his life, he made so many friends and there wasn’t a place he went to that he didn’t know someone. Eugene cherished spending time with his friends and family, especially his daughter and granddaughter, camping, and watching NASCAR races on Sundays.
Eugene is survived by his daughter Dorothy Beshara and one granddaughter Elizabeth Beshara of Westfield, four brothers, Albert Tanguay of Bremerton, WA, Wayne Tanguay of Florence, Bruce Tanguay and his wife Laurie of Orange, and Kevin Tanguay of Southampton, two sisters, Carol Donovan and her husband Berny of Easthampton, and Cindy Billieux and her husband Michael of Worthington, and his partner Linda Wright of Port Orange, FL, and many more friends and family.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia of 53 years, one son Clarence Tanguay, one daughter Lorraine Tanguay, and one brother Dennis Tanguay.
