Eugene ‘Buddy” F. Burgielewicz, Jr. of Easthampton, MA, passed on Saturday December 19 due to a stroke and declining health, at the age of 71. He was born in Northampton, MA on March 8, 1949, the son of the late, Eugene and Frances (Danek) Burgielewicz. He was a dormitory resident at the Holyoke Solders Home.
He attended the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Grammar School in Easthampton, and Smith Vocational School in Northampton, MA. In 1968 Buddy enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Columbus, out of Portsmouth, VA. Buddy worked along side his dad at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton for many years. He worked for the Town of Easthampton at the Brookside Cemetery. He was also employed by Stanley Home Products, and Johnson Sheet Metal. Buddy loved bowling , hunting and fishing . He often participated in activities and playing Bingo in the Canteen at the Soldiers Home. He also got great enjoyment playing his accordion where there were people gathered.
Buddy was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and then attended church daily at the Soldier’s Home Chapel.
He leaves his siblings, Gloria Tremblay, JoAnn Furman (Frank), Mary Moszynski (George) of Easthampton, Phyllis Hartwell of Westfield, Mark (Celine), and Steven (Carrie) of Easthampton. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Gene will be missed not only by his family, but all the friends he made along his journey of life.
A Committal Service with Miltary Honors will be held in the Spring at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Time and date to be announced.
