Edward Arthur Cunningham (Sonny) was born in Springfield Vermont to Ruth (Phelps) Cunningham and Harold Cunningham
He was Predeceased by his Son, Daniel A Cunningham, father of Damon M. Cunningham, Cherished Grandson. Edward leaves behind his Wife of 61 years, Sandra M (Ouimet) Cunningham, daughter Juliann (Cunningham) Sherman, her husband Chuck, daughter Jilleva Cunningham, and Daughter of the Heart Becky Stone, (Damon’s Mom)
His sister Joyce (Cunningham) Porter and his 2 Nephews Craig and Scott Porter. Uncle William C. Phelps, whom Ed admired greatly.
Edward enjoyed many memorable days Camping, Haying, Movie Nights, and Boating on the Connecticut River with longtime friends Ann & Robert (Ziggy) Girouard and their children, Nancy, Kay Kay, Peter John and Linda Jaye.
Ed has always been proud of his Vermont Heritage and History and was the picture of “Yankee Ingenuity “as he had the tools and resources to fix anything and if he didn’t have it, he would fabricate it.
Edward Proudly Served in the United States Navy in the 60’s
Ed was a Southampton 4H leader where he enjoyed sharing knowledge with kids in the community by teaching engines and bicycles
He was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
Dad always taught us to “Leave a Place Better Than You Found It”
Dad left the World a better place, he taught so much to so many people while he was here.
The Family will hold calling hours on Tuesday February 17th from 10:00am- 12:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton, with a reception to follow at 12:30pm at the Delany House in Holyoke.
