-Dorothy (Patterson) Taillon, 81, passed away in her home with her loving children by her side on August 22, 2022. She was born in Easthampton on May 30 1941, to the late Harold and Margaret (Day) Patterson. She had attended Easthampton schools and worked at Amherst Nursing Home completing her education at HCC in the dietary field as well as U-MASS for several years before her retirement.
She was a beautiful, strong, independent woman. She always put the needs of her children before her own. She sacrificed and dedicated her life to raising her 5 children on her own often working more than one job at a time. She was most happy when she had her whole family together, especially during the holidays. To her, time spent with family was everything. She never missed a sporting event when her children were younger. She was often the loudest mom in the bleachers cheering them on. In her later years she enjoyed watching men’s UMASS Basketball, Red Sox, Patriot’s (especially Brandy & Gronk), cooking, trips to the casino, and going to the beach.
She leaves behind her sisters Eleanor Cobleigh, Nancy Carson (Charlie Luippold), Merrijean Stalls (Joe), brothers Donald Patterson and Rick Guhse. Dorothy is survived by her three loving sons, Francis, John and Daniel, and her daughter, Debra Piekarski (Chris Brooks). Left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren Ryan Taillon (Kelsey) their children Mckenzie & Beckett, Christopher Piekarski (Carlena) their son Kegan, Bradley Taillon (Savannah) and daughter-in-law Sherri Taillon. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Robert, brother-in-law George Cobleigh and her beloved son David who passed away in 2021.
Mitchell’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care. At the request of the family, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Dorothy can be sent to Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice, PO Box 329, Northampton, MA 01061-0329.
