Doris Eva Lingley, beloved wife to Vincent Lingley, who predeceased her in 2008, passed away peacefully on Thursday Dec 7th at Careone at Redstone. She was born in Potsdam Germany on Jan 28, 1938 to Karl and Hildegard Stranz. In 1960 she met the love of her life Vincent, they married on Dec 16th 1960, and she moved with him to Holyoke, Mass. Where she taught herself English then received her GED, and worked for National Blank Book for 30 years. Then at the job of her dreams as a dining room supervisor for 25 years at Umass Amherst. Doris was an adventurist, loving friend to everyone she met, she would go out of her way to help out whoever needed it. Doris loved to garden and taking care of her fish pond in the back yard. Doris always said the best things come in small packages; diamonds, dynamite, and Me. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, Robert Morris Chapter of Holyoke Ma and Daughters of the Nile. After retirement Doris enjoyed her daily breakfast at Friendly’s, spending time on the farm and many trips to Mohegan Sun . Besides Doris’s husband Vincent and joining her sister Helga, she leaves her sisters Waltraut Dietsch of Germany and Agi Reed of Springfield Ma her brother Mansfred Stranz of Germany. Doris was the beloved mother to Peter Lingley and his wife Doris of Germany, Carolin and her late husband Kerry Hockersmith of Arkansas, Tammy Lieber and her partner Adam Burt of Easthampton. Loving Grandmother to Matthew Lieber and his fiancé Jamie Gosselin of Holyoke, Samantha Lieber, Jordan Burt and Adam Burt Jr of Easthampton Justin Jones and his wife Catherine of Ark, Alex Lingley and Jenny Lingley of Germany. Great grandmother to Jon, Harley, Afton, Justin Jr and Xavier of Ark. Also she leaves many Lingley Family members they were very dear to her. Visiting Hours for Doris will be Dec 16, 2017 at Mitchells Funeral Home 15 Park St Easthampton from 9-11am with Burial and Committal prayer following at Forestdale cemetery in Holyoke.
