Deborah “Debbie” James, 64, of Westfield MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 16, 2025. Debbie was born in Northampton on June 16, 1960 to Anne Marie James. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Debbie attended St. Michael’s High School in Northampton until its closure in 1976, and then Easthampton High School in Easthampton. Debbie worked various jobs, but found the most fulfillment in her role with the Department of Developmental Services of Massachusetts as well as her position at Riverside Industries in Easthampton. Debbie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She devoted her life to her six children, sacrificing anything and everything to ensure they had everything they needed in life. As the years went by, and the family began to grow, Debbie took on her new role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, as she would talk about them to anyone who would listen.
Deborah is survived by her son Christopher Blanchard of Hadley, her son Nicholas Blanchard of Easthampton, her son Kyle Camp of Canton, her daughter Alison Camp of Holyoke, her daughter Jocelyn Mandeville of Westfield, her 12 grandchildren, and her great granddaughter. Deborah was predeceased by her daughter Ashley Camp of Easthampton.
A memorial service will be held on May 31, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Easthampton on Monday, June 2 at 11:30 a.m. All family and friends are invited to attend both events. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mitchell Funeral Home has been entrusted with Deborah’s care.
