David McClaflin 69, of Florence died December 7, 2017 in Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton surrounded by his family. He was born in Northampton May 14, 1948 the son of Nolton and Elizabeth (Purrington) McClaflin. He attended local schools and was employed by Waldbaums Food Mart as a store manager.
David loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who made beautiful walking sticks from the branches he found on walks with his dogs Mac and Milo. Dave was a kind man who enjoyed being able to help people in need, and he spent many hours helping the homeless.
David is survived by his wife Barbara Malloch McClaflin, three sons Heath McClaflin of Chester, Shane McClaflin of Easthampton and Roger Taylor of Florence, two daughters Ivy McClaflin of Huntington and Moira Edmonds of Greenfield, one brother James McClaflin and one sister Elizabeth Gillman both of Easthampton and six grandchildren.
There will be a time for remembrance at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, of Easthampton on Monday December 18, from 9am to 11 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Brookside Cemetery, Easthampton.
