Charles Brannigan Obituary

Charles S. Brannigan “Chuck”, age 70 of Easthampton passed away suddenly at Baystate Medical Center of Springfield on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born July 7, 1947 in Framingham, MA and was the beloved only child of Charles A. Brannigan and Gertrude M. (Smith) Brannigan.  He graduated from Framingham South High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from the Wentworth Institute in Boston.  Soon after coming to this area Chuck was employed for many years as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for the former Digital Equipment Corporation located in Westfield, MA. After leaving Digital Chuck went on to pursue more business endeavors as a Life Insurance Agent and Real Estate Agent. Chuck also worked at Home Depot before finally retiring in 2011. Chuck was also a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the United States Army and went on to serve many more years in the United States Army Reserves. He spent his final years enjoying his hobbies of construction, making stained glass, and woodworking…. making special gifts for his family. Chuck also spent the last two years as a devoted volunteer during his visits at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston supporting LVAD candidates and their families through the process. Chuck is survived by his wife Debra A. (Strader) Petersen, Brannigan, two daughters Kimberly A. Hughes and her husband Thomas, Kelly M. Brannigan and partner Michael Ryan, four grandchildren Connor and Dillon Hughes, James (Jamie) and Michael Ryan, all of Hadley. Step-son Jason Petersen and wife Miranda of Huntington, Step-daughter Jaime Paschal her husband Dustin of Easthampton. Four step grandchildren Paige and Jason Petersen, Tylor and Colin Paschal. Besides leaving his wife and children he leaves his in-laws Ronald and Margaret Strader a brother in-law Robin Strader all of Southampton. He also leaves many beloved cousins in Nova Scotia, Canada where he loved to visit yearly. 
Chuck's memorial service will be at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton. Visiting hours will be Thursday February 8, 2018 from 3:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers gifts in Chuck's memory may be given to Brigham and Women's Hospital.
