Beverley (Farnsworth) Sunderland
January 27, 1930 - December 1, 2024
Beverley (Farnsworth) Sunderland of Chesterfield, Massachusetts died peacefully of natural causes at age 94 surrounded by family. Beverley is survived by a sister, Judith Farnsworth of Hesperia, Michigan; children Robin (Bill) Beck of Kokomo, Indiana; Abigail (David) Vanasse of Easthampton, Massachusetts; Todd (Susan) Sunderland of Wendell, Massachusetts; Peter (Nora) Sunderland of Silver Springs, Maryland; Phoebe Sunderland of Easthampton, Massachusetts; Matthew Sunderland of Easthampton, Massachusetts; and Hannah Rose of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Charles Burton Farnsworth, her mother Helen (Schmidtke) Farnsworth and her husband, Victor Hugo Kupferer.
Beverley was raised in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1949 and Purdue University in 1955. She graduated from Western New England Law School in 1981. She was admitted to the Bar in the State of Massachusetts and practiced law in Northampton, Massachusetts for many years before retiring.
In addition to practicing law, Beverley was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She also fostered many children through Lutheran Services. She was a Renaissance woman who gardened, canned and put foods by. She was a gourmet cook. She made pottery, climbed mountains, hiked, hunted, backpacked and downhill skied. She knitted, sewed, crocheted and raised chickens. She was a lifelong Lutheran and belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 52 years.
After a private green burial, the family has planned a Celebration of Life on February 22, 2025 at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 867 N Pleasant St, Amherst MA.
