Northampton - Anne M. Kingsbury, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital with her loving family by her side after a brief illness.
Anne was born in Easthampton on September 20, 1927, to the late Paul and Katherine (Yurik) Micka. She attended Easthampton Public Schools and graduated from UMass in 1949. She worked at Smith College as their Chief Laboratory Technician for 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Anne was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and many other various clubs throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida but most of all loved taking adventures with her family. Anne never missed a party, gathering, or celebration with her family. She was always the life of the party.
Anne loved going to watch her great grandson, Garrett, play his sports, especially basketball. She also enjoyed going to watch her great granddaughter, Ava’s dance competitions and recitals. Her joy was seeing Garrett graduate from high school. She attended his and great granddaughter, Emma’s graduation parties which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, John, son, Todd, daughter, Kim, and six of her siblings.
Anne leaves her daughter Gail Nartowicz (Jim) of Easthampton and her son Jon of Florence; her grandchildren, Brian Nartowicz, Kristi Nartowicz Willard (Chad) and Katelyn Erickson; her great grandchildren, Garrett and Ava Willard, Emma and Abigail Erikson. Anne also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She leaves her sister, Christine Pike, of Troy, New York.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 10am at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holyoke with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery, Florence. Family and friends may call at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton, on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 34 Jarvis Ave., Holyoke, MA, 01040.
