Alice Cook Obituary

Alice Cook (Meggison), 96, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022, at Care One, Northampton, MA after a period of declining health. A native of Easthampton, MA, Alice was born on August 7, 1926 to John and Mabel Meggison. She was educated in Easthampton Schools and after graduating from High School went on to further her education by attending the former Northampton Commercial College in Northampton, MA. She was employed by the First National Bank  of Easthampton for many years.

Alice had numerous interests in life. In the 1940’s, she and her sister Marcie, both avid tennis players, were 1-2 champs of Easthampton Women’s Tennis Singles Tournament. Loving the outdoors, she and her friends enjoyed taking long bike trips, even pedaling to Cape Cod-on a 3 speed!

She liked to garden, knit, read, play golf and go bowling. In later years, she enjoyed traveling the world, playing bocce and was a volunteer for the Special Olympics.

She was predeceased by her husband, Immer Mowry Cook and by two brothers and a sister. She is survived by two children, Immer M. Cook and Abby Arnould, husband Josef, all of Easthampton, and by a sister, Norma, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care One, Northampton for their wonderful care!

There are no calling hours. The Mitchell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. A private interment will be held at the Main Street Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Pascommuck Conservation Trust, P.O. Box 806, Easthampton, MA01027.
