Janice L. Somers, 72, of Haydenville passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton. She was born in St. Francis, Maine on June 23, 1946 the daughter of Stellman and Doris (Thibodeau) Pelletier. Janice was the widow of Leslie H. Somers who died in 2011. She spent her youth in St. Francis, Stacyville and Cutler, Maine and graduated from St. Benedict High School in Benedicta, Maine.  She received her Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma after attending William J. Dean Vocational-Technical School in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Janice held various nursing positions throughout Springfield and Northampton during her career.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She is survived by one daughter, Debra L. Winkler of Harpswell, Maine, two brothers, Peter Pelletier of Easthampton and Merle Pelletier of Westfield and a special friend and companion, Anthony Joseph Constantine. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, one daughter, Tracy L. Somers, and one brother Larry Dana Pelletier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 21st at 11 am, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on King Street, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Northampton. Visiting hours will be held Friday July 20th from 4-7 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton, MA.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that  memorial gifts be made to Cooley Dickinson Health Care/Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Memorial gifts may be made online or sent to the Development Office, PO Box 329, Northampton MA 01060.

I have been the lucky recipient of many kindnesses from Janice.
Among them, her cooking, her company, her prayers, and her love.
