Maddie is in almost all of my mother's photos of trips and outings over the course of their 40 year friendship. Norma and Maddie always gave each other pleasure, information, succor, and joy, all the way back to Vanguard Savings Bank in Holyoke in the 1970s. They each lost a daughter, took trips together, and provided companionship as widows who never gave up. I look back at the many photographs I have of them together and smile. A great friendship, indeed. Norene
