Ruth Fisher ,105, a lifelong resident of Southampton died May 2, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.  She was born in Southampton, February 22, 1912 the daughter of Charles and Laura (Hollstein) Sheldon. She was a graduate of Easthampton High School and Comptometer Business School in Springfield.  During WW11 she was employed by the Fiske Rubber Co. in Chicopee as one of the original "Rosie The Riveters".   Later with her husband the late Morris Fisher, owned and operated M. Fisher Tailor Shop in Easthampton. Ruth was a member of the former Southampton Methodist Church, the Southampton Mother's Club, the former Southampton Grange #401 and the National Sheldon Society of which she was a lifelong member.  She was especially proud of her heritage as a descendant of one of the original founders of Southampton, Israel Sheldon.

Ruth was an avid home maker, gardener, seamstress, landscape painter and traveled extensively throughout the lower 48 with her husband Morris.  She lived and enjoyed life to its fullest and will be very much missed by all who knew her.

Ruth is survived by daughter Barbara Backstrom of  Medford, OR, son Charles Fisher of Southampton, daughter Judith Binsky of Southampton, son Wayne Fisher of Petersham, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.  And many nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband Morris she was predeceased by two sisters Marie Falcetti  and Laura Krasky.

Funeral services will be private. Mitchell Funeral Home of Easthampton in charge of arrangements.
