Robert Messier, 95, of Easthampton died Sunday April 9th,  at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Northampton. He was born in Easthampton August 21, 1921 the son of Homer and Stella Scott Messier. He attended local schools. Robert was employed as a Nursing Assistant at Veterans Administration Hospital in Leeds, retiring many years ago. He was a WW11 Army Veteran with the 503 Parachute Infantry serving from 1940 until discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He served two years in Panama, one year at Fort Bliss as Instructor, and serving three years in the Pacific receiving a Bronze star. Robert was a member of Easthampton VFW, American Legion Dalton Lavalley Post 224, head of Veterans Council, Organizer of parades for many years. He loved to hike and walk, reading military history and was a proud American. He was predeceased by his wife Rita LaFlamme Messier. Robert is survived by his daughter Sandra Prost and husband Bill of Westfield, one sister Ruth Chicoine  and husband John of Southampton, one grandson Dennis Staples of Easthampton, two step grandchildren Kim Prost of South Hadley and Bill Prost, Jr. of Texas, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Homer (Bud) Messier.

Funeral services will be Tuesday April 18, at 10 am in Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton followed by burial in Brookside Cemetery with Military Honors. Visiting hours are Monday April 17, from 6pm to 8pm.
