Caroline (Lacey) Welson of Northampton passed Saturday, October 4 at The Overlook in Leeds.  Caroline was born in Northampton on March 10, 1934 and graduated from Northampton High School in 1951.  She was employed at the Gazette Printing Company as a linotype operator for many years.  She then went to work in the cash office at Bradlee’s Department Store until its closing.  She later bartended at the Polish Home, the White Eagle, and My Place Tavern.
Caroline was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Northampton and more recently a member of Our Lady of the Hills Parish in Haydenville.
In her younger days, Caroline enjoyed many activities including polka dancing, roller skating, playing pool, bingo and cards. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, taking her grandchildren to Disneyworld, her trips to Watch Hill with her girls, and many family vacations.
Caroline is survived by her twin daughters, Marjorie Strycharz of Southampton, and Emma Lucas and her husband Phil of Turners Falls, and by her son Sam Welson and his wife Sue of Northampton. She also leaves her dearly beloved grandchildren Amanda, Ricky, Sunny, Melony, and Garrett, and her brother Wayne Lacey and his wife Theresa of Hatfield.  She was predeceased by her former husband Sherwin Welson, and by her longtime companion John Gnatek.
A memorial Mass for Caroline will be held at The Overlook at 222 River Rd, Leeds, MA 01053 on Saturday, October 11, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to “The Overlook Activities Fund in Northampton” at the same address
